Journalism Career

After Scott graduated, he secured his first job at WWJ-TV, a CBS affiliate in Detroit, Michigan as a reporter and also as freelance reporter for CBS News Radio. From there, he joined COX media group and worked as Washington, DC correspondent. He later left the station for NBC4.

At NBC4 Scott worked as political and investigative reporter based in Washington, DC. He served the station for 8 years and during his time there, he interviewed a lot of United States prominent leaders.  He earned national recognition for reporting on public Schools security and child safety issues.

MacFarlane joined CBS News as a congressional correspondent on January 2022 and reports for all broadcasts. Scott has produced documentaries about history of WJPZ-FM in New York and WAER-FM, New York and belongs to both Stations wall of Fame.
