Poppy Harlow is an award winning American Journalist who is renowned for her anchoring skills currently working at CNN. She anchors CNN This Morning and she is New York based. Harlow is a former anchor of CNN News Room weekdays and also a former business correspondent at CNN international and HLN.

As a student, Poppy Harlow began her journalism career as an intern at CBS where she continued working as an assistant producer for Newspath after graduating. From there, she moved to NY1 News to become an anchor and reporter.

In 2008 Poppy joined CNN and became the anchor of CNNMoney.com and the reporter for CNN, CNN International and HLN. In April 2012 she became a CNN Correspondent based in New York. On February 2017 she took over as co-anchor of CNN Newsroom alongside Jim Sciuto as replacement of Carlos Costello who had moved to HLN. On September 2022 she was named the anchor of CNN This Morning leaving her role as the co-anchor of CNN Newsroom

Controversies

She was highly criticized for sympathizing with rapists in 2013 while covering a story of a 16 years old girl who was raped by two high school football players and in her statement she said “incredibly difficult, even for an outsider like me, to watch what happened as these two young men that had such promising futures, star football players, very good students, literally watched as they believed their lives fell apart.”
