Miller worked as an intern at ABC News Nightline and also at the Minneapolis Star Tribune. After graduating, Miller found job with BET where she worked as national correspondent and substitute anchor for BET Nightly News. In 1989 she joined the Los Angeles Times and wrote for south Bay and Valley Editions where she worked up to 1990.
From there she was hired by Orange County News Channel in Santa Ana to works as their editor, producer and reporter where she left in 1993. She joined WIS-TV in Columbia to work as reporter and weekend morning anchor.
Her second anchor and reporter job was at WLL-TV, a CBS affiliate in New Orleans which lasted from 1994 to 2003. When still working at WWL between 1998 and 2001 she also worked at Dillard University as a lecturer of Communications and Broadcast Journalism.
Lastly, Miller was employed by CBS in 2004 where she has been working up to date.
