Ivan Watson is an American Journalist renowned for working at CNN as Hong Kong based Senior International Correspondent. In 1990’s Watson was working at CNN as Moscow based producer but he eventually left for NPR where he served for 8 years and left in 2009 to rejoin CNN.

Career

Watson began his career soon after graduating in the late 1990’s where he was working for CNN, as a producer based in Moscow, Russia. During that time he covered the Russian war in Chechnya and the rise of Vladimir Putin to becoming the president.

From CNN, Watson Joined NPR in 2000 and he reported from West Africa for one year and later in 2001, he was covering Afghanistan and was based in Istanbul, Turkey and spent 5 years there. At NPR, Watson spent 8 years, and left for CNN.

He went back to CNN in 2009 and since then he has been working as a correspondent. At first, he was based at Istanbul, Turkey but later in 2014, he was relocated to Hong Kong.
