Just like any other Journalist, her career started when she was a University student as an intern as a reporter at WCIA-TV Champaign, Illinois. The station later hired her and she worked as producer, reporter and anchor. She worked up to 1998 and left after joining WFTS-TV as a general assignment reporter in Tampa, Florida.

In December 2000, she moved to CNN Newsource where she served as correspondent until 2004 when she joined CNN\US as general assignment correspondent based in Washington, DC. She covered the 2004 elections for then president George W. Bush and his vice president. In 2006 she became CNN’s White House Correspondent and covered the Bush administration.

In 2010 she joined CBS as a general assignment reporter. Currently she is anchor of political show named Red and Blue at CBSN, a CBS digital streaming network.
