David Muir Biography

David Muir is an American journalist currently working at the ABC Network as anchor of ABC World News Tonight and also co-anchors ABC News magazine 20/20 and is based in New York. Those who knows Muir will confess to the fact that he is a dream chaser and currently he is living his dream career. As a young boy he grew up Watching legendary Journalists like Ron Curtis, whom he says was a role model to him and admiring to being on those screens one day as an anchor. He always admired getting a job that would take him to far places in the globe.  Being the go getter he is, he searched for an internship at a Local TV station (WTVH) at the age of 13 and that’s where the greatness he has today was nurtured. Muir’s career started  at a very young age of 13 as an Intern at  WTVH-TV. After graduating, from the University, he went back to WTVH where he worked from 1994 to 2000 as an anchor and a reporter in Syracuse New York. In 2000 he joined WCVB TV in Boston and there he worked as an anchor and a reporter up to 2003.

In August 2003 he joined ABC News and was tasked to anchor overnight news world news now. Later he became the anchor of world news this morning an ABC News early morning newscast and also the anchor of world news Saturday. Sometimes, he co-anchored Primetime the news magazine in 2006 and in February 2012 he was assigned to anchor world newscasts named world news with David Muir. In 2013 March he was promoted to co-anchor ABC’s 20/20 alongside Elizabeth Vargas. On June 27, 2014 he succeeded Diane Sawyer and became ABC’s World news anchor and managing director. His ABC’s World news tonight with David Muir became the most watched evening newscast outnumbering NBC nightly news for the first time. Muir became ABC’s lead anchor of breaking news and special event coverage.
