As stated earlier, Lyse Doucet is the current BBC’s chief International Correspondent and also the senior presenter. She has spent all her years in Journalism at BBC where she joined in 1983. She has played a major role for the growth of network as well as her growth in career. At first, BBC hired her as a freelance reporter and was based in West Africa. She served in that capacity until 1987.
Later she was based in Kabul, Afghanistan for nearly a year where she covered the Soviet Troop withdrawal and aftermath. In 1989, she was assigned a correspondent job in Islamabad, Pakistani. She also reported from Iran, Afghanistan until 1993. From there she was the BBC’s Middle East correspondent, where she opened a BBC office in Amman, Jordan and later in 1995, she was situated at Jerusalem.
Her career as a presenter began in 1999. She has won numerous awards and honors which includes: Silver Sony Awards, Factual Awards, Peabody Award, David Bloom Award, Edward Murrow Award, Emmy Award, Columbia School of Journalism Award, Trailblazer Awards, Honorary degrees from Keele University and many honorary doctorate degrees from different Universities
