Career
The Sudan native began her career in December 2002 working for Reuters as a reporter based in Sudan until 2005 when she left for More4 News, a UK television Channel to work as a freelance reporter. Later she worked at UK’s Channel 4 since 2005 until joining CNN.
CNN hired Elbagir in 2011 as a Johannesburg based correspondent, and after working there for some time she was made the Nairobi based correspondent. On January 2022, she became the network’s Chief International Investigative correspondent based in London.
Throughout her career, she has won multiple awards including Alfred I. DuPont Award, Courage in Journalism Award, and Excellence in International reporting Award, George Polk Award and more.
