Larry Madowo Biography

Larry Madowo is a Kenyan Award winning Journalist popularly known for working at CNN as the host of African Voices Changemakers and Playmakers series. Also, he is a CNN international correspondent based in Nairobi, Kenya. Before joining  CNN Network in 2021, he was working at BBC News as North America’s correspondent.

Career

Madowo began his journalism career as an intern in a local vernacular radio station Bahasha FM. After dropping out of college, he was hired by KTN, a Kenyan Television network, where he served for three years and left to take a business anchor and also a reporter job at NTV. After working at NTV for some time, Madowo landed a job at CNBC Africa based at South Africa. There he was among the main anchors of Market day, Shows Open Exchange, Power Lunch and Closing Bell.

He served at CBNC Africa for 8 months and returned to NTV as Technology Editor and News anchor. Later he went back to University and graduated. While still at NTV he free lanced for CNN International, France 24 English, BBC and Public Radio International. In 2018, Madowo was a contributing columnist for The Washington Post Global opinions page. On the same year April 11, He joined BBC News Africa as business editor.
